Here are some multicultural benders/avatars inspired by the Worldbending project.
Nahjet is a sandbender inspired by ancient Egypt, Huazil is a stormbender inspired by the Aztecs and Central America, Caiern is a earth/woodbender inspired by ancient Scotland, and Anjali is a firebender inspired by India.
I really like this entire blog! I think the idea is really intriguing, and I love seeing all of the lesser focused on cultures so focused on. Just trying to cut through the hate and give you some props ^^
Blog is still up and goin’, folks! :D
WELP I JUST FOUND MY NEW FAVORITE BLOG.
:DDDD
This is part of a series for Worldbending (visit here: [link] ) which focuses on diversity in the real world through the expression of “bending” from the world of Avatar: TLA and Legend of Korra.
The above is a depiction of a Badjao woman waterbending. “Badjao” means “people of the sea,” so it would make sense that they would be waterbenders in the Avatarverse. Badjao are part of the Sama people, an ethnic group associated with souther Philippines. Badjao make their living often through fishing and seafaring. A combination of genetics and sun makes them one of the Philippine ethnicities known for being blonde.
The eyes are blue just for association with the common trait of blue eyes in waterbenders in ATLA and LOK
A piece done for Worldbending. Part of the same picture as the Badjao Waterbender. I have no idea why her eyes are not grey. I’ll fix that later.
If you’re interested in helping out with Worldbending, send an ask! We need some team members.

Sisters, amirite? Can’t live with them, can’t live without them. Especially when one of them happens to be the Avatar and they’re such a bratty little brat face about that very fact.

Younger sister - Omolara/African inspired Air Nomad/also the Avatar

So, I found out about this wonderful tumblr called, ‘Worldbending’. Everyone should check it, so please, if you’re an ATLA fan, please follow and send love into it.

Don’t question why he has no other hand, just don’t.
This seems to be a popular enough request that I think could appeal to the rest of you. General rule of thumb: make sure to tag it ‘Worldbending’ when you post. We accept art and written headcanons. If you can, site your sources for your research… Be smart about it and just have fun. :) Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.
Also, if you have any suggestions for the group at large, don’t hesitate to send an ask. We’re always up for improvement.
Welcome to Worldbending, a blog that extends our own world's diversity through the imaginative realm of Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra.
Here, you'll find design concepts, headcanons, personal work, and anything you can think of that's directly related to/expanded upon/influenced by the A:TLA/LOK world!
